Fort Bend Master Gardeners are invited to attend a lunch and learn to be given by Cristina Alapat on “Kinship among flowering Plants”. The lunch and learn will be held virtually and will start at 12:30 PM on Wednesday September 22, 2021.  You may wonder what is meant by Kinship? Kinship is the sharing of characteristics and origins. She will explain the relationship among say: The Aster family (Asteraceae);the Zinnia, African daisy, cone flower, sun flower. Many more beautiful flower pictures in vibrant colors will be shared with scientific explanations. The goal is give an introduction:

•       To the origin of Angiosperms (flowering plants)

•       The current system of classification 

•       The patterns exhibited by some of the important families

And finally, to use this knowledge to identify the family of plants
