Fruit Garden

The goals of the Fruit Garden:
  • to serve as a teaching garden for Master Gardeners and the community
  • to showcase the fruit trees and berries sold at Master Gardener Fruit Tree sales
  • to donate fruit to local food banks.

Planning for the Fruit Garden began in August of 2024. The Board of Directors approved the project on October 8, 2024.  Work began immediately. All trees and bushes except the Methley plum and the Southern Sensation grapes came from the Fort Bend County Master Gardeners annual Fruit Tree Sale.  The Methley plum was donated by Caldwell Nursery and the grapes were ordered from Double A Vineyards, Inc. The blueberry bushes, planted on March 4, 2025 and the grapes, planted on April 7, were the last plants to be installed. The grounds were leveled and grass seeded in mid April.

The fruit garden is continually changing. The infrastructure is being completed and the plants are maturing. The plant list and the layout of the garden below will provide information about the plants and the garden.

Come see our gardens! We’re in the garden most Wednesday mornings. Or, you are welcome to stroll through the gardens at your leisure; they’re open all the time.

The arbor and the walkway were designed and built by the Class of 2024.
