October 1st: New Year’s Day for Herbs!
Ann Wheeler, Log House Herbs
To loosely paraphrase Arbor Gate friend and noted plantsman, Greg Grant, in our area there are four seasons, coinciding generally with the traditional Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. These times of our local year may be informally labeled as Warm, Hot as Blazes, Still Hot, and A Few Chilly Days. This New Year’s Day for Herb class may help revise your thinking about the seasonality of the herb favorites on your wish list. Recent herb varieties will be discussed in addition to issues of herb cultivation and use. So the class is scheduled when the time is just right to get the New Year for Herbs off to a promising start as the temperatures cool down, whether to expand your selection of old favorites, add new varieties, or both.
